The SpaceX-34 “Dragon” capsule carrying Hēki back to Earth undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) yesterday and splashed down off the coast of California overnight.

Over the next few weeks, the capsule will be unpacked and the experiments it contains will be shipped back to the institutions that coordinated their launch with NASA. This means that Hēki will initially be returned to Voyager Technologies’ facility in Houston, Texas.

Hēki team members will travel there later this year to verify that all of Hēki’s systems remain operational prior to shipping Hēki back to our laboratories at Paihau-Robinson Research Institute for more detailed post-flight analysis, completing the final mission success criterion. We look forward to sharing more details on Hēki’s journey and what we learn!
